Waste diversion is the No. 1 priority at Gold Coast Recycling and Transfer Station. Located at 5275 Colt St. in Ventura, Gold Coast was founded over 30 years ago as our strategic community partner. In cooperation with Harrison, Gold Coast consistently helps client cities surpass state recycling mandates through comprehensive waste management and innovative sorting technologies.

The First Stop for Sustainability & Organics Processing As a vital partner in our sustainability efforts, Gold Coast Recycling serves as the critical first stop for your collected curbside materials. Before your food waste and yard trimmings can be transformed into renewable resources, they must be carefully processed. At this bustling transfer station, dedicated teams and specialized sorting lines work quickly to separate your bagged food waste from green waste and remove contaminants. This essential step ensures that only clean, usable organic material moves forward to local processing facilities.

Public Recycling Services In addition to processing curbside collections, Gold Coast offers a wide variety of drop-off services for the community:

  • Recycle Buy-Back Center: Gold Coast pays top prices for aluminum, CRV 1 through 7, plastic bottles, and glass. (Note: Due to a downtrend in paper markets, they accept but currently do not reimburse for newspaper, cardboard, paper, bulk mail, or magazines).

  • Free E-Waste Recycling (No Limit): Don’t let old electronic equipment pile up in your garage. Safely dispose of computers, monitors, printers, televisions, consoles, cell phones, VCRs, small kitchen appliances, and lamps. (There is a small fee for fluorescent tubes and ballasts; please call for pricing).

  • ABOP Recycling (Antifreeze, Batteries, Oil, and Paint): Available for Harrison residential customers only. Gold Coast accepts antifreeze, auto/boat/household batteries, motor oil (limit 20 gallons in 5-gallon containers), unlimited oil filters, and latex paint (limit 10 gallons; labels must be on paint cans). No pesticides or solvents accepted.

  • Public Drop-Off Center: A convenient drop-off location for self-hauled waste and bulky items.

You know all those grass clippings, tree branches and leaves that you place in your yard waste container? For the past two decades, Harrison Industries trucks have transported them to our strategic partner Agromin, which each year uses cutting-edge technology to convert almost 380,000 tons of the green waste materials into its organic mulches, compost, wood chips and other products that naturally fertilize plants and trees.

Agromin has more than 240 premium soil products and sells them at 41 retail locations in Ventura County and throughout Southern California. These products, available to the public at 41 retail outlets in Southern California, save water, help reduce soil erosion and reduce the use of non-organic fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides – making our air and water cleaner.

In addition to its retail locations, you can order Agromin products online.

Agromin also is in the process of transforming its existing green waste compost facility on its 9.6-acre site in the Santa Clara Valley into a 26-acre Biogenic Energy Park that will convert food waste into biogenetic renewable energy. The facility will help accommodate the residential curbside food waste recycling program that Harrison is in the process of implementing, in compliance with state laws.

The Mountain View Food Waste Processing Center

Through our partnership with Agromin, we are revolutionizing how our local community handles organic waste. At the state-of-the-art Mountain View Food Waste Processing Center, bagged residential and commercial food scraps are transformed from everyday trash into powerful, sustainable resources.

Using advanced depackaging and sorting technology, the Mountain View facility processes food waste into a clean organic slurry. This material is then converted into renewable natural gas to power our region and nutrient-rich agricultural compost to replenish our soils. It is a true circular economy in action right here in our backyard.
