Waste diversion is the No. 1 priority of Gold Coast Recycling and Transfer Station. Located at 5275 Colt St. in Ventura, Gold Coast was founded more than 30 years ago as our strategic community partner. In cooperation with Harrison, Gold Coast has consistently helped all client cities surpass state recycling mandates by offering a wide variety of services, including the following:

  • Recycle Buy-Back Center: Gold Coast pays top prices for aluminum, CRV 1 through 7, plastic bottles and glass. Due to a downtrend in the paper markets, they will accept but currently do not reimburse for newspaper, cardboard, paper, bulk mail or magazines.
  • Free e-waste recycling (no limit): Don’t throw away your old electronic equipment or let it pile up in your garage. Gold Coast accepts e-waste including computers and computer monitors; printers; VCRs; televisions; small kitchen appliances; fax machines; cell phones; consoles and big-screen TVs; and lamps, including fluorescent and high-intensity lamps (there’s a small fee for fluorescent tubes and ballasts; call for pricing).
  • ABOP (antifreeze, batteries, oil and paint) recycling: Gold Coast accepts antifreeze; auto, boat and household batteries; motor oil (limit 20 gallons in five-gallon containers); oil filters (unlimited); and latex paint (limit 10 gallons; labels must be on paint cans). (For residential customers of Harrison Industries only! NO pesticides. NO oil-based paint. NO solvents.)
  • Drop-off Center: for self-hauled waste.

Gold Coast Recycling hours of operation are 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays; closed Sundays.

Gold Coast’s Recycle Buy-Back Center is open from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday; closed Sundays.

You know all those grass clippings, tree branches and leaves that you place in your yard waste container? For the past two decades, Harrison Industries trucks have transported them to our strategic partner Agromin, which each year uses cutting-edge technology to convert almost 380,000 tons of the green waste materials into its organic mulches, compost, wood chips and other products that naturally fertilize plants and trees.

Agromin has more than 240 premium soil products and sells them at 41 retail locations in Ventura County and throughout Southern California. These products, available to the public at 41 retail outlets in Southern California, save water, help reduce soil erosion and reduce the use of non-organic fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides – making our air and water cleaner.

In addition to its retail locations, you can order Agromin products online.

Agromin also is in the process of transforming its existing green waste compost facility on its 9.6-acre site in the Santa Clara Valley into a 26-acre Biogenic Energy Park that will convert food waste into biogenetic renewable energy. The facility will help accommodate the residential curbside food waste recycling program that Harrison is in the process of implementing, in compliance with state laws.
