Residential Services and Standards

- In Fillmore, weekly trash, recycling and yard waste collection take place on Friday.
- Residents are required to recycle their food waste, bagged and placed in their yard waste cats. For details, click here.
- Carts should be out by 7 a.m. on collection days.
- Carts should be placed two to three feet away from one another and from objects such as mailboxes and cars, with the wheels facing the curb.
- Trash is limited to what fits in the cart.

Bulky Item Pickup
Residents are allowed 2 bulky items per calendar year. It can be done in one pickup or two.
- Broken or old furniture
- Water heaters
- Mattresses
- Old bathroom and kitchen fixtures
- Household appliances
Household Hazardous Waste Recycling
Fillmore residents can safely dispose of HHW the fourth Saturday of each Monday (closed May, November and December) at Ventura County’s Pollution Prevention Center. Appointments are required. Call 805-658-4323.
- HHW includes oil-based paints; pool and photo chemicals; pesticides and insecticides; cleaning solvents; fertilizers; and fluorescent light tubes.
- The quantity limit per visit is 15 gallons or 125 pounds of waste.
- The following items are not accepted at the monthly HHW events: fireworks; smoke detectors; radioactive and medical waste; explosive materials; compressed gas cylinders; tires; and trash.
- In addition to the Ventura County Pollution Prevention Center Events; The City of Fillmore has an annual HHW event. This year it is October 5th at the Public Works yard.
Medical Sharps Recycling
Fillmore residents can bring their used needles and lancers (sharps) to Fillmore Medical Plaza (852 W. Ventura Street) for proper and convenient disposal. Call 805-524-2672 for more information.
Battery Recycling
Fillmore residents can drop off their household batteries in Fillmore through the Santa Clara River Valley Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program. For details, call 805-658-4323.
Oil Recycling
Residential customers can take ABOP materials to Gold Coast during normal business hours. ABOP materials include antifreeze, wet cell batteries, dry cell batteries, used motor oil, and water-based paint. Normal hours are Monday thru Friday 5am to 7pm and Saturday 5am to 1pm.
